Houston Calling

Free Press Summer Festival preview: Scale the Summit

June 5th, 2015 · 1 Comment

Scale the Summit is a band that seems to sometimes fly under the radar locally, mainly because they get so much exposure outside of Houston. Having played with such respected bands as Dream Theater, Protest the Hero, Between the Buried and Me, and many more, the prog-rock group has built a sizable international fan base (and the band’s last album, The Migration, charted in the Billboard 200). The Collective was one of my favorite Houston albums of 2011, and the band has done nothing but progress (no pun intended) since its inception.

Scale the Summit releases its fifth album, cleverly titled V, this summer on Prostethic Records, and plans to get out on the road to support the new music (a teaser of which you can see below, featuring new drummer J.C. Bryant).

You can hear more of Scale the Summit’s new music this weekend at Free Press Summer Fest at NRG Park in Houston. The band plays this Saturday (6.6.15) at 4:20pm on the Jupiter stage.

Here are a few more videos to tide you over:
