Well, I will finally see Godspeed You! Black Emperor live tonight. I’ve wanted to see them live for a few years now, ever since a friend discovered them as a result of Amazon.com‘s “People who bought this also bought this” feature. A lot of the great music I have found out about lately has been as a result of this feature of their site. Good stuff.
Anyway, I just read a review in the Washington Post that said the recent show there was too dark and boring, but I assume most of the people who’ll be at tonight’s show will be there because they’ve heard the band, not just a bit of hype. I guess that remains to be seen–I have been very surprised at the large turnouts at recent shows I have attended.
I’ll post some sort of review of the show tomorrow, along with the first in a series of interviews I plan to post from time to time. Houston Calling’s first victim is bassist Rozz Zamorano.
I have had a great response from all of the musicians I have contacted about being interviewed. Thanks to all who’ve participated so far.
