Free Press Summer Fest preview: Medeski, Martin, and Wood

June 4th, 2010 · No Comments

Since its start in the early 90s, experimental jazz trio Medeski, Martin, and Wood has constantly reinvented itself, never letting its music stagnate or continuing to do the same thing to please the industry or a particular audience. The band often freestyles live, letting the music take the band wherever it leads, and the trio’s talent and dedication have earned it a lot of success and a faithful fanbase. After leaving the respected label Blue Note a couple of years ago, MMW released the Radiolarian series of albums, which can now be found in a box set format that includes a remix album, CDs, and vinyl.

The band plays a set at this year’s Free Press Summer Fest, which is this weekend (June 5-6, 2010) in Eleanor Tinsley Park on the edge of downtown Houston.

Here’s a live video of MMW, which proves how great the band’s Summer Fest set will be:

Medeski, Martin, and Wood plays at Free Press Summer Fest tomorrow (Saturday, 6.5.10) at 4:35pm on the Main Stage.
