Only a month or so left until 2008, so I’ve been working on my top 20 favorite albums of 2007. As always, it’s tough to cull it down but I think I have a handle on it now. Some of the top 10 will undoubtedly include Maserati, The Shins, BRMC, and Porcupine Tree. I’ll probably post my final list of favorites in late December.
As always, I am sure there will be albums I forgot about or just never got around to hearing.
What are some of your favorites of 2007? Post below.

Well, I’m trying to hold off on doing the list ’til the year’s actually over, but I’ve already started working on it in my head. Weirdly, this year saw a ton of awesome local releases: Bring Back The Guns, The Jonx, The Western Civilization, The Goods, The Riff Tiffs, LP4, Listen Listen, Arthur Yoria, Fatal Flying Guilloteens, etc.
I think a lot of those’re gonna be high up on my list, plus these:
American Steel, Destroy Their Future
1997, A Better View of the Rising Moon
Parts & Labor, Mapmaker
Bloc Party, A Weekend in the City
Bottomless Pit, Hammer of the Gods
Meryll, Happened
The Broken West, I Can’t Go On, I’ll Go On
Winterpills, The Light Divides
Palomar, All things, forests
Might run across some more before the end of the year, though…

So in no particular order:
Battles – Mirrored
Akron/Family – Love is Simple
Shugo Tokumaru – Exit
Everything, Now! – Ugly Magic
YACHT – I believe in You, Your Magic is Real
Sunset Rubdown – Random Spirit Lover
Hmmmm… still thinkin’ bout this one…..
Just to let everyone know: 1.the newest black moth super rainbow album sucked. There is 1 good song. It uses all the same effects and sounds(and not nearly as well) from “At War with the Mystics” .
Also I’m terribly confused as to why Akron Family – “Love is Simple” is being unanimously slept on by the entire blogosphere for best of ’07. At the worst it is still top 10. It’s sequenced perfectly it’s got all the hills and valleys. It awes, it rocks, it contemplates. It’s a spiritual experience unto itself.
On Another random note here is an obscure classic from the early seventies that makes me think beatles schmeatles. Yea…it’s that good. It’s McDonald & Giles self titled album. For those of you not familiar they were in a ‘lil ol band called KING CRIMSON.
