SXSW announces list, Houston bands make the cut

February 8th, 2007 · 3 Comments

SXSW finally announced its first wave of bands to perform in Austin next month.

The Houston area bands/musicians I see listed are: Chingo Bling | Fatal Flying Guilloteens | Lower Life Form | Peekaboo Theory | Rapid Ric | Rusted Shut | Southern Intellect | Studemont Project | Cee-plus & The House of Bad Knives | Billy Cook | Devin the Dude | DJ Chill Presents Young Samm, Short Texas, Kenika, Lil Boom, 2 Deep | DJ Domo & Good Grief of the Coughee Brothaz | 14K | Rob G | Houston’s Nawf Side All Stars – Magno, Big Tike, Lester Roy, Lil Mario, Big Pic, Blyndcyde | Indian Jewelry | The Jonbenet | Jandek

Hopefully more locals bands will be announced soon. There are some obvious holes, in my opinion, and lots of hip hop (naturally) — but it’s nice to see this many on there at this point. I checked for DFW-area bands, and it’s about the same.

View the list at donewaiting.com’s SXSW blog or at the SXSW website.

Dont miss Peekaboo Theory. Saw them last month. Seal meets Bloc Party meets Living Colour. Solid stage presence. Worth seeing.
