Free Press Summer Festival update: FPSF moved to NRG Park

May 29th, 2015 · No Comments

From a FPSF post:

The seventh annual FREE PRESS SUMMER FESTIVAL (FPSF) will move forward as planned next weekend (Saturday, June 6 and Sunday, June 7) in Houston. The FPSF team remains committed to producing the event their fans have come to expect and the decision was made to relocate the 2015 event to an area adjacent to the city’s beloved Astrodome and NRG Park (Yellow Lot; 1 NRG Park). This move has been facilitated and aided by the cooperation of the City Of Houston Mayor’s Office Of Special Events and NRG Park. This temporary move is being implemented over saturated ground in the park and to not cause any further damage to the newly renovated ELEANOR TINSLEY PARK–parts of which were submerged with more than 35 feet of water. The safety of the guests, artists and staff is of the utmost concern to festival organizers. As part of the relocation plans, discussions are in place for a portion of the proceeds to be donated for flood relief to our neighbors throughout the region. “We come from the school of thought that the ‘show must go on,’” says FPSF co-founder Omar Afra. “We’re looking forward to coming together as we do every June for a great festival.” “Moving forward with the show underlines the perseverance that we as Houstonians have and the dedication we have to our community,” says co-founder Jagi Katial.

Beyond the site move, the FPSF 2015 weekend will proceed as planned and all original tickets will be honored at the new location. Doors will open at 10:00 AM with music kicking off at 11:00 AM.
