After two years of promises, Walter’s has closed its doors, according to Houston Press‘ Rocks Off blog. The Washington Ave. venue had long battled its neighbors after gentrification swept through the area, and nearby clubs and their patrons (and associated traffic) had a major affect on the club.

A long-time staple of the Houston independent music scene, Walter’s hosted a ton of great shows and hopefully will continue to do so once its proposed new location opens in the warehouse district near downtown (by DiverseWorks).
