Local musician Chase Hamblin–who I had the privilege of seeing up-close-and-personal in one of the early Live From Sugar Hill sessions–plays DJ tonight (Friday, 6.17.11) at Leon’s Lounge (1006 McGowen) from 9pm-midnight. He will be spinning his home vinyl collection of mainly ’60-’70s music. No cover.
Saturday night (6.18.11), Hamblin returns to Avant Garden (411 Westheimer) with his acoustic trio, opening for Iowa indie-folk songwriter Paleo (the musician who wrote a song a day for an entire year) at 10pm. Benjamin Wesley is also on the bill, so this will definitely be an incredible show. Plus, no cover before 10pm.
Hamblin and band kicks off an East Coast tour with Espantapajaros on Thursday, 6.30.11, downstairs at Fitzgerald’s. Nathan Quick opens with his debut CD release. Showtime is 9pm. $5 cover, $8 under 21.
