Houston Calling

Eight years of Houston Calling

March 8th, 2011 · 3 Comments

Today is the eight-year anniversary of the first post I made on Houston Calling, then under the DoneWaiting.com umbrella of blogs.

Here’s a few choice posts from “back in the day”:

Our Band Could Be Your Life

One Day You’ll Find 10 Years Have Gone Behind You

The Cure

And my first interview, with local musician Rozz Zamorano.

It’s been great to not only watch bands grow over the past eight years, but to also be able to experience the new crop of bands that has come out of the Houston area in the past couple of years. These bands seem intent on having careers as musicians, and are doing a good job of it from what I can tell.

Also, seeing the increase in the amount of press that covers local music today versus eight years ago is impressive. That, along with the city’s own music festivals and people genuinely interested in not only the music being made, but in the musicians and their livelihoods. Everyone involved in the Houston music scene in any way deserves a big round of applause. Keep it up!

Congrats on the anniversary, man! This damn city definitely wouldn’t be the same without Houston Calling in it…
