Daniel Johnston free in-store, plus 50th b-day show tonight at Fitz’s

Last-minute I know, but influential musician Daniel Johnston–who lives in Waller–plays a free in-store show today (Friday, 1.14.10) at 5:30pm at Cactus Music. this will be a special treat, so be sure to make plans to attend.

Also, Johnston and a slew of Houston (and Texas) bands–Spain Colored Orange, Roky Moon & Bolt, the Mathletes, Austin’s The Bright Light Social Hour (which has a new album streaming on its website), Tax the Wolf, Electric Attitude, The Examples, Ceeplus Bad Knives, and Fredster–play tonight at Fitzgerald’s as part of Johnston’s 50th birthday celebration. Cover is $15, and the show starts at 8pm.

The meet-and-greet will now be an in-store performance, which will take place at 5:30 p.m. at Cactus, 2110 Portsmouth.
