The Houston Press Music Awards Showcase 2010 changes locations and days this year. For some odd reason, instead of downtown venues the showcases will be held in the many bars along Washington Avenue. No, really…

This year’s showcase, which is Saturday, 8.7.10, features more than 60 local bands, along with headliners Matt and Kim and Jonathan Tyler and The Northern Lights.

Wristbands are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. A stage will be at located at Washington Ave. and Silver St., along with the following venues: Taps House of Beer, The Washington Avenue Drinkery, Sugarcane, Manor on Washington, Walter’s on Washington, Rebels Honky Tonk, Pearl Bar, Salt Bar, Kobain, and The Drake. The outdoor stage is all ages, all other venues are 21+.

Complimentary shuttle service will be provided by The Wave with the purchase of wristband. A portion of the proceeds benefit the Music Therapy Center of Houston
