Help Shapes Stars Make get new van for summer tour

April 30th, 2010 · No Comments

Independent bands are increasingly using the net and social media as a means to help raise money to fund recording sessions. Last year, Brooklyn’s The Damnwells asked fans to donate for the cause, which has raised more than $32,000 so far. Dallas instrumental rock band Shapes Stars Make, whose latest album These Mountains Are Safe gets plenty of play on my iPod, is asking fans to help the band get a van for its summer tour.

Hello friends,

As you may or may not have heard, Shapes Stars Make is going on Tour this summer (July 8-24). We will be heading out west and playing shows in the following cities: el paso, tucson, san diego, los angeles, san francisco, portland, seattle, vancouver, boise, denver, kansas city, and oklahoma city. It’s going to be intense…and fun.

We are in the process of trying to raise money for a Van. We have used my 4Runner for all of our shows over the past several years…and it’s pretty much ragged. So, we are kind of in desperate need of a Van that will get us across the country for the tour and tours to come.

We have a special website set up for our fundraising attempt. You can donate how ever much or little that you feel lead in your heart. For donations of $30 or more, there are gifts/perks that will accompany your generosity. There are also opportunities for corporate sponsorship too! Please take a look at the website. It is really easy and safe to give online. We are trying to raise $2500 of our $3500 goal by the end of May so that we can purchase a Van in June.

Here is the website. Go to http://www.indiegogo.com/shapesstarsmake

Thank you for your time. I would love to hear back from you!  Feel free to pass this on to anybody who would care.

If the band reaches its full goal, it will also press These Mountains Are Safe on vinyl, if you needed added incentive to help out…
