Local music lovers/photographers Mark C. Austin and Amber Roussel are the proud drivers of the new Ford Fiesta, which you may have seen at some places around town recently. As long-time supporters of local bands, they are organizing a battle of the bands, which you can read more about (including how to participate) here.

The battle of the bands winner will receive the following:

• A professional photo shoot and digital images from Roussel and Austin, whose photos have appeared in Paste, SPIN, Rolling Stone, and more.
• A side stage performance opportunity at The Showgrounds at Sam Houston Race Park opening for an upcoming national touring act.
• The opportunity to advance and go head-to-head with bands in 19 other cities across the country, and compete for national recognition with one of Ford’s media partners.

“Team Houston” has also shot “backseat jukebox” videos with one of my favorite local bands, Buxton, and local rapper Fat Tony.
