Pale returns to Houston tonight at The Meridian, w/ Southern Backtones

Local rock band Pale, whose Mandatory Ambulance EP stills hogs up time on my iPod, returns to Houston tonight (Friday, 4.10.09) after a U.S. tour stint with Earshot. Rumor has it the band will perform some of its new material.

Mango’s: new music venue grand opening tonight

Tonight (Friday, 4.10.09) is the official grand opening of Mango’s Vegetarian Cafe. The newly re-organized Mango’s features vegetarian cuisine, live music, a full bar, and coffee.
The festivities begin tonight at 7pm with Two Star Symphony, Robert Ellis, I am Mesmer, and The Sideshow Tramps.
It’s good to have a new-ish venue at which to see bands.

The Jonx at Rudyards tonight

The Jonx, one of my favorite local bands to see live, plays in Houston tonight (Friday, 4.10.09) at Rudyard’s with Austin band The Gary, a new project from Trey Pool of Sad Like Crazy. Check out The Gary at www.myspace.com/thegaryatx.
The Jonx continues work on its third full-length album, reportedly titled Vocabularian Herds.
