Houston Calling

The Duke Spirit, Eagles of Death Metal at The Meridian

November 24th, 2008 · 1 Comment

Happy Thanksgiving indeed! England’s The Duke Spirit–whose Neptune is vying for the top spot in my 2008 favorites list and who put on a great live show–come to Houston tomorrow night (Tuesday, 11.25.08) to open for Eagles of Death Metal at The Meridian.

If you haven’t yet checked out Neptune, I highly suggest picking it up. It’s an excellent record.

Here’s a video of the band live on The Henry Rollins Show to get you into it:

Eagles of Death Metal have a new album out (Heart On) and this show takes place of the one that was canceled due to Hurricane Ike. Check out this video:

See you there. Tickets are available here.

I too am a huge Duke Spirit fan, having seeing them at the last SXSW. Great little band and Leila is super sexy.

To me, the surprise was Eagles of Death Metal. I’m not one for band members’ side projects, but seeing these guys live was a revelation. Classic US rock is still alive and well and getting a good reception. I had only heard a few of their songs, but they were enjoying themselves and really rocked.
