New demos from DuneTX

August 26th, 2008 · No Comments

Local rock band DuneTX, who you may remember from their Goldenarm album from 2002, recently posted some demos of new songs on their website. This is the first new music I can recall from the band in a while, so it’s good to know that they’re still writing new music.

Check out the band’s new demos here. Funny, while poking around their site, I found they used a review I wrote for Swizzle-Stick back in the day on CDBaby.

Throw some “Gardening at Night”-era R.E.M. and Billy Joel’s “It’s Still Rock And Roll To Me,” mix with some happy Eighties pop, some Weezer, a smidgen of The Beach Boys, and some early Nineties indie rock — specifically Smashing Pumpkins’ Gish and maybe some Fig Dish, Bob Mould, and Blake Babies — and you get a glimpse of what duneTX sounds like. Goldenarm might very well be this summer’s party record — I can’t imagine college kids across the nation not having this on at some point during the day.

Name-dropper…
