Flametrick Subs at The Continental Club this Saturday
March 20th, 2008 · 1 Comment
My old favorites Flametrick Subs play The Continental Club on Saturday (3.22.08) with The Von Ehrichs. It’s been quite a while since I have seen the Subs play.
They put on a great show–and always have. I used to loan them my drum kit in college when they were starting out.

New song from Tody Castillo available from GoDIGITAL Music
March 18th, 2008 · No Comments
Yes, you have to re-buy his 2005 debut (now christened Politics) to get the new song “San Antonio”, but I think it’ll be worth it (plus, it’s a mere $7.95). At the very least, it’ll tide you over until his new album is released later this spring.

Day Three: My Friday at SXSW began by meeting an old friend at the Australian BBQ, as is the tradition, although it being early the grill wasn’t yet going. We watched a song or two from Aussie songstress Kate Bradley and band, which sounded nice and worth checking out, and headed over to the Envy […]

Local SXSW wrap-ups
March 16th, 2008 · No Comments
Ramon at The Nonalignment Pact (and of the LP4) has some good posts about his time at SXSW this year, and The Skyline Network has plenty of up-to-the-minute reports from various Houston band members (and well-wishers). Interesting stuff.
Same for the Houston Press‘ Houstoned Rocks and the Chronicle’s HandStamp.
Also, thanks to Jeremy of Space City Rock […]

Adam Levy, Lee Alexander show at Mojo Risin’ today sold out
March 16th, 2008 · No Comments
Adam Levy, the lead guitarist for Norah Jones, plays a set at 6pm today at Mojo Risin’ Coffeehouse with local musician Lee Alexander (whose new song, “Mr. Walker’s Epilogue” is full of tongue-in-cheek, ELO-sounding goodness). I just found out that the show is sold out and no tickets will be available at the door.
For those […]
