Houston Calling

Oakhurst in Houston this Monday

March 13th, 2008 · No Comments

Oakhurst is currently on tour and will be playing a show in Houston this Monday (3.17.08, aka St. Patrick’s Day). Their new CD, Get Up In the Get Down, keeps with the band’s cool hybrid bluegrass sound. Here’s more about the band:

Their songwriting is very well crafted, their instrumental/improvisation talents are awesome, and their clean vocal harmonies are really pleasing… In their time as a group they have shared the stage with a lot of other very successful groups including Lyle Lovett, John Hiatt, Emmylou Harris, Barenaked Ladies, Lynyrd Skynyrd, John Hiatt, Nickel Creek, The Flaming Lips, Yard Dogs Roadshow, Bela Fleck, The Ditty Bops, The Radiators, Junior Brown, Lyle Lovett, Johnny Lang & Guster. They also have some very fun stage antics. One of the things they do is called “guerrilla grass,” which is where they will see people at a show/festival/on the street and surround them, and do an all acoustic jam all around them.
