Houston Calling

Advance warning: The Black Swans at The Mink’s Backroom, March 3rd

February 28th, 2008 · No Comments

On Monday, March 3rd–that’s THIS MONDAY–The Black Swans come to Houston to play The Mink’s Backroom. If you haven’t yet heard this Columbus, Ohio-based band then I highly suggest checking them out. Their latest album (Change!) is, as they describe it, “a dozen slow burning songs dealing with the reconciliation and reconstruction of the spirit and self. The Black Swans feature the broken broodings of songwriter/singer/guitarist Jerry DeCicca, and the classical, Appalachian swoop of Noel Sayre’s violin.”

I’d say that sums it up. Their songs are mellow, nicely done, and strangely compelling. You can read a good review of Change! at Stylus.

You can find out more info on the band at MySpace (click the album cover) or at www.theblackswans.com.

Showtime is 9pm. Doors at 8pm. Cover is only $5. Openers TBA.
