Houston Calling

Your Saturday in Houston rock

December 1st, 2007 · No Comments

Here’s some of what’s going on around town tonight (Saturday, 12.1.07):

My pick is to see Pale with People Noise and newcomer Gelli out in Spring at James Moody’s Full Throttle Coffee & Gallery. Gelli is a 14-year-old female singer/songwriter whose tongue-in-cheek rants on love from a high schooler’s perspective are rumored to be a treat.

In case you don’t fancy the drive out to Spring, try going to see A Pink Cloud, VAARG, Balaclavas, John Muzak, MFK Kunst, and TENSE at The Proletariat. This will be a good one–and undoubtedly packed.

I would love to see Orange Is In (who you can read about in the December issue of Envy magazine), who play at Bohemeo’s and Hayes Carll, who returns to Houston to play a special gig at the Mucky Duck. Hopefully his new album will see the light of day sometime soon. I’m sick of waiting.

Also tonight: Pong and The Mathletes play Rudz. Fondue Monks and The Rafters play Dan Electro’s at 9pm.

A few other shows tonight include:

999Eyes Freak Show, featuring That Damned Band, The Sideshow Tramps, & Come See My Dead Person @ Super Happy Fun Land
Freeze Fest, featuring Monel, Mooney Monday, Buckley, Another Run, Dreaming of June, The Red Line, Jonathan Salas, & “Dirty” @ Fitzgerald’s
World’s Most Dangerous @ The Continental Club
Brett Johnson/Henry Chow/Sasha Braverman/Mike W. @ Jet Lounge

Enjoy the weekend.
