KTRU’s free concert series continues (does it always rain on these days?) at Rice’s Valhalla (of course) with the always impressive Blades, A Pink Cloud, and California band Gowns. Showtime is 3pm.

Also, the legendary Meat Puppets play tonight at The Proletariat, which again proves this city’s need for a low-key, mid-sized venue. Anyway, Dizzy Pilot and Dead Roses open the show — which will undoubtedly be packed.

The Black Lips bring their schlock/jock-rock to Engine Room. Locals Cop Warmth and The Wiggins open the show. I saw the Lips at SXSW this year and wasn’t that impressed. I know others who swear by them, so judge for yourself.
