Tonight (Wednesday, 6.27.07), The Contingency and The Girlfriend Experience play at Rudyard’s.

On Thursday, Satin Hooks plays at Walter’s with Bullets on Broadway, American Sharks, and The Low Endz. Also, Morningside Drive plays at Warehouse Live with The Last Great Assault, Novista, Dorian Grey, Enter the Collector, Eye Against, and Memphis May Fire. Friday night is The Police’s show here, but there’s a lot of great local music around town as well. My old favorites from Austin, Flametrick Subs, play with Houston’s own Sean Reefer & the Resin Valley Boys at The Continental Club. Tody Castillo and Southern Backtones play at Rudz, and there’s the benefit show at Walter’s for Mia Kat Empire’s Reggie, which features The Western Civilization, Buxton, Peekaboo Theory, Subject Optional, and Gretchen Schmaltz.

On Saturday, a band that blew me away at this year’s SXSW — Tacks The Boy Disaster — plays at The Proletariat with Voxtrot, Palomar, and Brazos. I highly suggest checking Tacks… out. I have seen Voxtrot live a time or two but wasn’t impressed — may give them another chance.
