Saturday’s KTRU thing was great — except for the smell of DNR beef and prom-like gymnasium feel, that is. The bands, for the most part, were stellar. The Dimes were especially on fire and whipped the crowd into a frenzy early on. Norway’s 120 Days were, as expected, amazing. Despite some problems with the sound engineers, with only three songs the band showed how to put on a concert. I strongly suggest checking them out. Their album is out now on Vice Records.

This Friday night, I recommend you to check out Full Throttle Coffee and Gallery’s grand opening celebration. There will be a photography exhibit and live music from Pale, whose Mandatory Ambulance EP was recently released. Get directions here.

If driving to Spring’s not your thing, might I recommend Sound Tribe Sector 9 at The Meridian? Listen to their stuff and decide for yourself.

On Saturday, check out The Colour at Engine Room, with Pale, Simon Dawes, and Cage the Elephant. Go to Jet Lounge beforehand–just ’cause you can.
