Houston Calling

Of Montreal tonight + your Saturday in Houston rock

February 17th, 2007 · No Comments

I assume almost every fan of modern music will be at Numbers tonight (Saturday, 2.17.07) to catch Of Montreal with Elekibass. I wasn’t a fan of their last album, Sunlandic Twins, but the newly released Hissing Fauna, Are You The Destroyer? is growing on me. If you’re an emusic user, you can get the album there. Besides, it’s just a great album title…

Anyway, I assume the show is sold out — or is very close. Check the SuperUnison website for tickets.

Also tonight is Galveston’s version of Mardi Gras. Apparently the idea is to go back in time, as the show features Blue Oyster Cult and Better Than Ezra. Now I like “Godzilla,” “Burnin’ For You,” and “Don’t Fear The Reaper” as much as the next guy, but I have to seriously question that being a draw… Not my decision, so I hope you enjoy the show. Feel free to let me know how it went.

One of the more interesting line-ups tonight is dUNETX at Rudyards with Vicarious Me and Zipperneck This is the first time dUNETX has played Rudz in a while so it’ll be a good chance to see them in a great setting.

Another good one is Collabo at The Proletariat, which features Karina Nistal, Realness, Mic Skills & Naj-Meen, Nosaprise, Panama Black, Mobonix, David Escobar, Rocko, Boya Dunn, DJ Madsounds, & Cyde & Flygirl T. Enjoy.

Other shows around town tonight:

Complete Control/Signal Lost/Silence Kills/Los de Verdad @ Walter’s on Washington
Carnaval, featuring Grupo Saviero & DJ Sun @ Warehouse Live
Ruthie Foster @ McGonigel’s Mucky Duck
The Red Headed Stepchildren/Helicopter Jones @ Super Happy Fun Land
Eye Against/Will to Live/Meanpeace/The Stones We Throw/Idle Kids @ Fitzgerald’s
Randall Bramblett @ The Continental Club
John Creamer & Randall Jones @ The Meridian

Have a good Saturday. Enjoy the weather.
