Houston Calling

The weekend in Houston rock

November 18th, 2006 · No Comments

As a reminder, tonight there is a lot of good live music to choose from in town. Notably, Rozz Zamarano’s CD release party at Dan Electro’s in the Heights. The fun gets started around 9:30. Rozz’s new CD, A Musical Illustration of the Human Condition, will be available at the gig.

Also notable tonight is the rare appearance by local indie rockers Mansion at The Mink with Houston groups Lock Arms Block Cemeteries and Antarctica Starts Here. The Mink is located on the same block on Main St. as The Continental Club (at West Alabama).

Also don’t forget that Gil Mantera’s Party Dream play tomorrow (Sunday, 11.19.06) at The Proletariat with Grand Buffet, Frank From Accounting, and CeePlus. I am choosing this show over Kasabian, so you know that means the Party Dream is one not to miss.

Also tonight (Saturday, 11.18.06):

A Flock of Seagulls/When In Rome/Full Release @ Fitzgerald’s
Cattle Decapitation/Daath/School Girl Knife Fight/Fight Pretty/Gyste @ Walter’s on Washington
Alpha Rev @ Rudyard’s
Umbrellas/Stellamarias/Thee Armada/Stadium/Windsor Drive/Maps!/The Ride Home @ Java Junction (8302 North Eldridge Parkway)
Bruce Cockburn @ McGonigel’s Mucky Duck

Other shows tomorrow (Sunday, 11.19.06):

Anathallo/Page France/By The End Of Tonight @ Walter’s on Washington
Johnny Winter @ Fitzgerald’s
Kasabian/Men, Women & Children @ Engine Room
Ghost of the Russian Empire/Maximillian Gutierrez/Alle Norton @ Super Happy Fun Land
The Hudsons @ McGonigel’s Mucky Duck
Aerosmith/Motley Crue @ The Woodlands Pavilion

Enjoy the pre-holiday weekend.
