Houston Calling

The week in Houston rock

October 9th, 2006 · No Comments

There’s a lot of good music around town this week.

Tonight (Monday, 10.9.06), you can catch the talented Matt Wertz with Justin Rosolino at Warehouse Live. Or, head over to Walter’s to see The Hold Steady and Sean Na Na with Houston’s own Bright Men of Learning.

On Tuesday night, Bane plays with Strike Anywhere, A Global Threat, and This Is Hell at Walter’s.

On Wednesday night, Peter & The Wolf — whose new CD is pretty good — play with Carousel Shy and Yatagarasu at Super Happy Fun Land and Frank Black plays with Kentucky Prophet at The Meridian. Either of these would be a good choice.

On Friday night, Bojones, Million Year Dance, Satin Hooks, and Penny Royal play at Warehouse Live. Come out and support the locals. Or, head over to Engine Room to catch the latest incarnation of Veruca Salt.

Saturday is the PUSH Skatepark Fundraiser at The Proletariar, which features Sinews, All Things Are Lights, The Flaming Hellcats, Sharks and Sailors, Tzar Bomba, The Sportatics, Cop Warmth, and more.

Also on Saturday, Mute Math plays with Shiny Toy Guns and Jonezetta at Numbers.

On Sunday, The Purrs play with The Village Green and The Ettes at Engine Room. This should be a good show.
