Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

This weekend marks the beginning of South By Due East 2006, which is held at Dan Electro’s Guitar Bar in the Heights. Musicians will perform on two stages from Saturday, 3.18.06 to Tuesday, 3.21.06.

SXDE features more than 50 local and national touring acts, all showcasing original music. You’ll see Zydeco Queens and street poets groovin’ next to cowpunk country and R&B bands offering a great chance to view the diversely rich Houston music & performance scene that can only grow in an underground music scene.

Marlo Blue & Guy Schwartz film the festival for use in online video projects aimed at promoting the Houston music scene and the participating artists.

Come out and be a part of this year’s event, which is held at Dan Electro’s Guitar Bar.

Doors open at 2 pm on Saturday and Sunday; 5pm on Monday; 6pm on Tuesday. Dan Electro’s Guitar Bar is located at 1031 E. 24th St. in Houston.

Admission is free, but donations are encouraged. Under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

Cool… I read a lot about Blondie’s inception into the R&R Hall of Fame and how contentious it was with the former band members. I almost wish I could have seen it live!
