Rozz Zamorano & co. live recording at Jet Lounge this week

January 4th, 2006 · No Comments

Local bassist Rozz Zamorano will be playing a performance of original instrumental music tonight (Wednesaday, 1.4.05) and Friday (1.6.05) at the Jet Lounge (1515 Pease in downtown, near the Toyota Center and Engine Room).

Both shows will be recorded live and made available for sale in the near future at the Zam Records website.

Rozz Zamorano will be joined in this performance by guitarist Chris Young, a graduate of HSPVA and recent member of the Angie Stone Band (J Records), Richard Bona (Universal) and Sato Watanabe (Blue Note). On drums will be Jano Rix, currently with the Liz Wright Band and the Gabe Dixon Band.

Zamrecords has invested the time and resources to have both of these musicians flown in from their respective cities — Tokyo and New York City — so that this recording could be made possible.

I urge you, if you can, to check out one or both of these shows if you like live music. You’ll be a part of local music history — come out and support the little guys. This will be a great performance of live jazz.

Zamorano has won and been nominated several times as the best bassist in Houston (Houston Press Music Awards). If you haven’t seen him in one of his solo projects, perhaps you’ve seen him perform with local funk rockers Fondue Monks.
