It’s another great week of rock in the Houston area. Not only is former Beatle Paul McCartney in town on Saturday night, Welsh rockers Super Furry Animals play tomorrow (Tuesday) with Canadian experimentalist Caribou (read my interview with Dan Snaith — aka Caribou — from last May here).

On Wednesday, local indie rockers Sitka Sound play with L.A.’s Cerulean (SHOEGAZEY BLISS, I swear it!) at Southmore House. Also on Wednesday, Broadcast is playing Wednesday night at The Proletariat.

On Thursday, local singer Arthur Yoria plays at Kelvin Arms in the Village.

On Saturday, it’s The First Annual Discount Halloween Show, featuring Poison Apple Martini, Ginnicide, & The Black Math Experiment at Helios. Also on Saturday is Joe’s Roadhouse, featuring Mississippi John Hurt, Ken Pratt, & Michael Haaga’s Plus and Minus Show at Fitzgerald’s (show starts at 3 p.m.).

Okkervil River plays with Man Man and Buxton at Walter’s on Washington on Sunday.
