Miwa in Houston + the week in Houston rock

September 7th, 2005 · No Comments

NYC’s jangly indie-folkstress Miwa brings her unique style to Super Happy Fun Land this Thursday (9.8.05). She will also play the Fainting Goat in Bellville this Friday. Come check out her show. More information on Miwa can be found at her website.

Tonight (Wednesday, 9.7.05), Flowers to Hide [website | myspace site] plays at Super Happy Fun Land with Awesome Color, Lucid Soule, White Noise Transistor, and Scotty Karate.

On Thursday, the fine folks at Super Unison bring the Pernice Brothers to town. Their latest CD is one of the best of 2005 — seriously. They play with Royal Gun, Phosphorescent, and Bright Men of Learning at Fat Cat’s (Washington Ave.).

Also on Thursday night, Tody Castillo plays with Spot & Matt Hammon at Rudyard’s. Satin Hooks plays on Thursday night with Rowe & Transit at the Rhythm Room — Satin Hooks will also open for …Trail Of Dead in the very near future (seen the Super Unison website for more details).

Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings play this Saturday night at Continental Club — this is a show not to be missed (I know, because I missed the last one and still regret it).

Also on Saturday is the Sunset Benefit Concert for Katrina Victims, featuring Zwee, Skyblue72, Best Kept Secret, & more at the Last Concert Cafe (downtown).
