Houston Calling

The week in Houston rock

August 30th, 2005 · No Comments

Tonight, you can catch Los Skarnales, Sean Reefer and the Resin Valley Boys, Hell City Kings and Throw Rag at Fat Cat’s (Mary Jane’s) on Washington Ave.

On Wednesday (8.31.05), catch the always interesting Dynamite Club at the Rhythm Room. This should be a great show — be sure to check it out.

On Friday, there’s an interesting band opening for Tori Amos. The Like are three 19 year-old girls who write great songs with a kind of Veruca Salt-meets-early Pretenders vibe. Might be interesting.

On Saturday, there’s the Houston Metalfest at The Meridian, which features a ton of metal acts — Necro Jesus, All Severed, Condemned, Immortal Remains, Rotten Seed, PinHed, Lycophile, Neopocracy, Head Drug, Burnt Face Jack, Crusher, Dereistic, Full Circle, Split Eye, Hell Church, Six Past Hell, Cerebral Rot, To Scale The Throne, Impathy, Ill Logik, Trepanation, Incisor, Coma, Assimilation, Lao Tzu, Fellspire, Six Year Binge, Rated E, Blood Void, & Deep 6.

Or, go to Rudz and see 61 Cygni — a shoegazey delight!

On Sunday, there’s a benefit for Brandon Hargrove, featuring LoneStar Pornstar, Faceplant, & more at the Scout Bar in Clear Lake.
