The week in Houston rock

August 24th, 2005 · No Comments

This Thursday, be sure to catch The Wrens, The Jim Yoshii Pile-Up, and Thane Matcek and His Band @ Fat Cat’s. The Wrens put on a great show and the newest album by The Jim Yoshii Pile-Up will make you cry. Check it out. More info on the SuperUnison website.

Or, you can catch HairyApesBMX at the Rhythm Room if that’s more your speed. Also, Tody Castillo is playing at Onion Creek at 8 p.m.

On Friday, catch Fondue Monks out at Uncle Albert’s.

On Saturday, catch Houston’s own Bring Back The Guns with The City on Film, Jeff Hanson, and The Tremula at Walter’s on Washington.

Or, see the Southern Backtones bring it back to Houston at Rudyards. They’ve been playing out of town a lot lately so this is a good chance to see them.

Have a good week. Support local music.

By the way, the fine folks at Cactus Music and Video have the new BRMC album, Howl, on sale this week for $9.99. If you act quickly, it comes with a free 7″ vinyl single. While you’re there, be sure to pick up the new albums by Tody Castillo (also $9.99) and Michael Haaga ($13.99). Also, the new album by The Jonx is only $9.99. All good stuff that you should buy to help support local music.
