Houston Calling

The weekend in Houston rock

June 30th, 2005 · No Comments

For you alt-rock fans, tonight at Walter’s, the impressive Super Unison presents Action Action, Spitalfield, Down To Earth Approach, and The Forecast. This should be a good, packed, show.

Also tonight (Thursday, 6.30.05), why not stop by The Harp for a few songs by Tody Castillo before checking out a great local line-up at the Rhythm Room — Sitka Sound w/ .belville, Satin Hooks, Shinobu, and The Sterling.

On Friday, check out Houston answer to the Pixies — The Dimes. They’ll be playing with local rockers Flowers to Hide and American Vodka at Super Happy Fun Land.

Also on Friday night, John Evans is playing at Rudz with Glenna Bell and U-Joint. Should be a good one.

Please note that this Sunday (7.3.05), there will be a ton of local bands playing at The Proletariat (on Richmond near Montrose). The show starts at 3:30 p.m. (with The Dimes — who you need to check out!) so get there early and support local music. You don’t want to miss these guys’ set — a powerful live show (and their cover of “Debaser” rocks).

Here’s Sunday’s line-up: The Dimes, The Jonx, The Addictions, Igents, The Monster That Terrorized The World, The Smoke Eaters, Liviya Compean, Hell City Kings, John Evans Band, Hot Rod Hillbillies, The Contigency, and the Pasty White Boys.

If you’re headed to the beach, be sure to check out The Karma Manifesto on Sunday at Del’s Lookout in Surfside. For a recent interview with David Glaser from The Karma Manifesto, please click here.
