Bob Mould ‘s new album & tour + Matt Hammon info

June 14th, 2005 · No Comments

I recently read that former Husker Du/Sugar frontman Bob Mould plans to tour this fall to support his upcoming album, Body of Song, which comes out this July on Yep Roc (same label as The Comas, for those that care). The tour comes to America in late September.

This begs the question — will local drummer/musician/guitarist/producer/PR man Matt Hammon tour with Mould this time out? Rumor has it he provided his drum talents to Mould’s new album — which, through the miracle of technology, I’ve heard and can report is pretty darn good — and has played with him in the past. Inquiring minds wanna know…

For those unfamiliar with Hammon’s work, check out his website. He was a founding member of The Gloria Record and Mineral, and has played with David Garza, Verbow, and David Rice, among others. He also has some solo stuff out there.

Speaking of, you can catch Matt Hammon in a rare solo appearance this Thursday night at the Mucky Duck when he opens for local musician Tody Castillo, whose CD was released earlier this year. Get it here. This is a great venue and should be a great show as well. Come out and support local music.

Also, you can check out some of Matt’s handiwork on his wife’s new album — if you haven’t yet checked out Cameron Dezen‘s Love+Rescue, I recommend doing so. Here’s my review for the latest issue of Space City Rock [website here]. Visit her website here.

You can pre-order the new Bob Mould album on vinyl and/or CD here.
