With European commitments coming to an end this weekend, Destiny’s Child is eyeing an extensive North American tour that will last through the summer. Set to open with a previously confirmed July 2 appearance at the Essence Music Festival in New Orleans, the trek will run through Sept. 10 in Vancouver.

The Destiny Fulfilled … And Lovin’ It tour, presented by McDonald’s, marks the group’s first North American outing in four years. Amerie, Mario and Tyra will serve as opening acts on a rotation basis.

The tour comes in support of the Columbia album Destiny Fulfilled, which opened in December at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 and has sold 2.7 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

As previously reported, Destiny’s Child will be seen performing on the silver screen June 27 as part of a Rockin’ the Corps showing at 132 Regal Entertainment Group movie theaters in 74 cities. The concert, filmed April 1 at Camp Pendleton in San Diego, will raise money for the non-profit group Support the Corps, which provides services to Marine Corps soldiers and families.

They stop in Houston on August 20th at Toyota Center. This will be the last time to see them here because they just accounced their breakup. That’s right, Destiny’s Child will call it quits after their tour. Read more here.

For those that care…

In my opinion, the best thing about the Charlie’s Angels soundtrack was not “Independent Women,” but Caviar‘s “Tangerine Speedo” — funny, rockin’ stuff. They have a new-ish album out called The Thin Mercury Sound, which you should buy immediately.
