“First Tuesday” Houston Music Roundtable tonight

May 3rd, 2005 · No Comments

This just in:

Tonight is the inaugural “First Tuesday” gathering of the Houston Music Roundtable. There’ll be free food, cheap drink, and lots of good company. Come hang out, 7-10 pm, at the Volcano (2349 Bissonnet). More info at:

http://www.musicroundtable.com

Upcoming Schedule:

* This Friday, May 6, 9pm @ Rudyards (2010 Waugh): This will be our May “Roundtable Supports” night. We’re going to see a show by roundtable regulars Jeff Balke (from the band Orange Is In), Arthur Yoria, and Pale. Cover is $6, but if you say you’re with the Roundtable, you get in for $5. The show starts at 9pm. Email Ian Varley if you’re planning on going — let’s make this a great kick-off to the “Roundtable Supports.”

* Wednesday, 5/18 – 7pm @ Dan Electro’s (1031 E. 24th): A mixer at Dan Electro’s on their great outdoors patio. 93.7 “The Arrow” is sponsoring a weekly music series that starts after the mixer; come out and meet others in the Houston music scene who frequent this historic and supportive club. Fondue Monks will play later in the evening.

And as always, check it out:

Houston Press Music Awards nominations are due this week.

— Rockin’ For Rise benefit on 5/21 at the Meridian. Tons of local bands! You can buy tickets tonight at the Volcano.

— There’s a new internet radio station in town that features national AND local bands, so submit your CD.

— D Berry is seeking more acts for his internet station, LocalSounds.net.

— Update your record for the Chronicle band database.

One last thing: KPFT just had a major schedule change. Overall, music programming is expanded (which is important, because there’s a BIG contingent at the station who wants to decrease music programming in favor of more talk). However, two notable shows that got the axe were “Reprogram Radio” and “Pat & Rosie’s Nightsounds.” If you want to find out more or get involved, contact T. C. Smythe.

Thanks to Ian, as always, for the info.
