Houston Calling

The weekend in Houston rock

March 31st, 2005 · No Comments

Tonight at Continental Club, there’s a great local line-up — Tody Castillo opening for Michael Hagga. Both have new albums out that are stellar. If you don’t have them yet, pick them up.

Friday night at Rhythm Room, Arthur Yoria is playing a FREE SHOW. Yes, that’s right. No cover for the show. Be sure to come out and see one of Houston’s most dynamic songwriters before he heads off for a tour. Also, Southern Backtones are playing with Austin’s Johnny Goudie at Helio’s (probably around 11 p.m.).

Saturday marks the return of The Hollisters. See the Houston Press for more details.

On Sunday at Dan Electro’s Guitar Bar (1031 E. 24th — in the Heights), there is a benefit concert for Don Mac. The schedules of bands is as follows:

2 p.m. Fahl & Folk / 3 p.m. New Jack Hippies / 4 p.m. Teri Greene, Big Al Bettis, Tommy Dardar, Sandy Hickey & Gary Dorsey / 5 p.m. Romeo Dogs / 6 p.m. Psychodillos / 7 p.m. Sonny Boy Terry / 8 p.m. Fondue Monks / 9 p.m. Norma Zenteno / 10 p.m. Hightailers / 11 p.m. “Blooz Jam like only Dan Electro’s can host a jam”
