Houston Calling

Earlimart –> early show

January 23rd, 2005 · No Comments

Earlimart [website], whose 2004 album Treble & Tremble won over fans and critics alike, is playing in Houston today at Fat Cat’s [website] with Pedro the Lion [website]. Doors are at 2 p.m., and tickets are $12 at the door. The shows begins at 3 p.m.

I voted Treble & Tremble one of my favorite albums of 2004. If you don’t own it, you need to get it soon. You’re missing out on a great album.

The band has been written up in the New York Times, Magnet Magazine [website], Rolling Stone, LA Weekly, Spin, Interview, and many more publications. The attention is well-deserved. The album is exciting, mellow at just the right times, and is a honorable tribute to musician Elliott Smith. This is sure to be a great show (they last played in town at Rudyard’s).

Tonight, Pedro the Lion and The Arcade Fire [website] play at Fat Cat’s. There will be only 50 tickets available at the door. Pre-sale tickets are sold out. The Arcade Fire has been receiving “the hype” ever since Pitchfork gave the album a high rating last year. I don’t see what the big deal is, but maybe their live show is more impressive than their album is. Check it out for yourself tonight.
