Sound Theory CD release show + weekend in rock

Sound Theory is celebrating the release of their debut, Frequency, with a show at Rudyard’s (2010 Waugh Dr.) this Saturday, 1.8.05. Show starts at 10 p.m. CDs will be available for $5. Also on the bill are local favs 61 Cygni & The Oots.

Friday night brings the CD release show for Prognosis. Their new CD, Unspoken, will be available at the Engine Room show, which also features Element Eighty, Caller 10, Soul Xchange, and Chrome 44.

Also on Friday night is The Walkabouts’ CD release show at Rudyard’s.

This Sunday (1.9.05) is the Sunday Sessions CD release party. A total of 19 artists are scheduled to perform from 6pm-12am CD sale proceeds will go to AIDS Foundation Houston. You must bring a canned food/non-perishable item (or $5) to get in, to be donated to MANNA Food Bank. Sponsors include Two Rows Restaurants, Mia Bellas, Saba Blue Water Cafe, Metro Light Rail, Six Flags Astroworld, Guitar Center, Alley Theatre, Alamo Draft House, and more. There will be giveaways and specials.

Also, I found out that Earlimart is playing at Mary Jane’s/Fat Cat’s on January 23rd at 2 p.m. with Pedro the Lion. This should be a good, if not completely packed, show. Earlimart’s 2004 release made my top 20 favorites of the year. You should check it out. The Arcade Fire plays later that night.
