Drop Trio will be at Rhythm Room on Friday night with Olospo.

Sunday night (Oct. 26th) is the Houston Music Foundation Public Awareness Event, featuring JW Americana, Osirus, Nine Volt, Pawn Shop Junkies, and The Medicine Show @ The Engine Room. Please be sure to come out and support your local music scene. This is an event not to be missed. Doors open at 7 p.m. There is no cover charge for this event. There will be information booths, merchandise, and much more.

From the HMF website: The Houston Music Foundation (HMF) is a non-profit organization with a singular mission: to unite, ignite and revolutionize our local music community.

HMF was founded by local artists, musicians, videographers and industry professionals with a passion for Houston music, and modeled after the Austin Music Foundation. There are thousands of musicians in Houston and its surrounding areas, that need your help. Through our efforts and your support we can achieve our goal, and revive our local music scene.

Music is a $40 Billion dollar international business, yet a recent Rand corporation study found that the median annual wage for musicians and composers in 1998 was only $10,000. The inability of artists to make a sustaining wage has forced most musicians to work under considerable personal and financial stress, often holding two jobs, living with inadequate housing and without health insurance.

The Houston Music Foundation assists artists in the pursuit of their work in four key areas: community services and life needs, education and mentoring, professional development, and finance.

The Houston Music Foundation seeks to build a membership-based non-profit organization to bring together Houston’s musicians, music industry professionals, businesses and music fans. HMF is offering free memberships to all. Members of the Houston Music Foundation will receive a membership card, a sticker, and a monthly electronic newsletter. Other membership opportunities will be available in the future.

Hope to see you at The Engine Room.
