Houston Calling

This weekend in Houston

August 15th, 2003 · No Comments

The pick for live music tonight is Spain Colored Oranges with The Singles, Das Automatik (ex-Refuse To Fall/DANSEPARC) @ The Axiom. This is a band with members of meoWcifer so I am sure it’ll be a good show.

Also playing on Friday:

Starlight Mints/Steve Burns/Modulator @ Stuka *This should be a good show*
Black Forest/Black Sea /Christina Carter @ Sound Exchange
Dubtex/Cosmic Force/DJ Steve Swift @ Rhythm Room
E.P. Vallejo/Sheila Marshall @ St. Pete’s Dancing Marlin
Third World/The Neutral Sisters/Los Skarnales @ Fitzgerald’s
Papa Grows Funk/Molly & The Ringwalds @ The Continental Club
Tri Seven Kru/Modern Day John/Drop Zero/Evidence/Solshine @ The Engine Room
Bonsfire/Ozzmosis @ Rudyard’s *This is my 2nd pick, simply for the fact it would be funny to see both an AC/DC & Ozzy cover bands play together*

On Saturday, you can catch the Healthcare for the Homeless Benefit, featuring Zwee, Beautiful Losers, Sugar Bayou, Vibe Committee, Path, Sky Blue 72, Hi-Ficus, DJ Lion808 & DJ Cory Zone @ Last Concert Cafe. The show starts at 5 p.m.

Also playing on Saturday:

Iron Maiden with M?t?rhead and Dio @ The Woodlands
Ray Wylie Hubbard @ McGonigel’s Mucky Duck
M87/F For Fake @ The River Cafe
Vallejo/Drifter @ The Engine Room *This should be great, but crowded*
Pale/Goudie @ Rudyard’s
Jesse Dayton with Tom Faulkner and Honky Tonk Heroes @ The Continental Club
Chris Fortier @ Barcode
Greg Wood Band @ St. Pete’s Dancing Marlin
Lady D & Seattle Sam @ Silky’s
Dave Gahan (of Depeche Mode) with Kenna @ Verizon Wireless Theater
Chris Duarte (CD release) @ Fat Cat’s
Opie Hendrix & The Texas Tallboys @ Rhythm Room
El Gran Silencio and Chango Jackson @ The 610 Arena
River City Rebels with The Hates and The Good Guys @ Walter’s on Washington

And last, but not least, Simpleton plays with Faceplant, Four, Downfall 2012, Arizenme, Fault, Fallen Line, Head Drug, American Tragedy, Leaf, Aggro Rhythm, Slopjaw Jr., and Corruption is King @ Fitzgerald’s (bands play upstairs and downstairs).

Sunday brings the following shows:

Blue Man Group with Tracy Bonham and Venus Hum @ The Woodlands

If you haven’t yet seen the Blue Man Group perform, this is a must. I haven’t seen their new rock show but I saw them in Las Vegas a few years back and again in Chicago last year and can tell you that these guys put on a show like nothing you have ever seen before.

Also, Superjoint Ritual is playing with Full Blown Chaos and Strapping Young Lad @ The Engine Room

Now Playing in My iPOD: Metallica — [self-titled] aka The Black Album
