Houston Calling

Back in the Saddle Again

June 23rd, 2003 · No Comments

Well, after a long (and much-needed) week of vacation on the road and in the desert, I am back. I am still getting settled in, so I offer a couple of reviews from the last edition of Houston Press.

The first is for Metallica’s St. Anger. By now, I am sure everyone who wants to hear it has heard it, and I am sure everyone pretty much feels the same way this reviewer does. It’s a good review of the album. Well, not really a good review of the album, but an appropriate review of the album.

For anyone who hasn’t yet heard St. Anger, I strongly suggest watching the DVD that comes with the album instead of just listening to the CD. It makes the experience much more tolerable.

Read the review here.

The latest Radiohead effort, Hail to the Thief, is also reviewed here. Old news, I know–forgive me, I have been away for a week or so.

Before I forget, The Whtie Stripes are playing here tomorrow night. At $30 a shot, I’ll be staying home. Sorry Meg.

Other shows of note this week include:

Koufax, KaitO, and MeoWcifer (GO SEE THEM!), Wednesday 6.25.03 @ The Proletariat, 903 Richmond

Melt Banana, Extreme Animals, and Chicken Hawk, Saturday 6.28.03 @ Fat Cat’s on Washington Ave.

More later.
