Houston Calling

Space City Rock

When I was first asked to do Houston Calling, I thought of all the possibilities–should it be concert listings, reviews, interviews, ramblings? I think we all know by now it’s a little bit of all of those.

Knowing that I quite simply do not have the time to sift through the hundreds of bands that play here each week, I have decided to link to a site I found out about a few years ago–Space City Rock–which lists tons of upcoming shows on its site here.

I know nothing about the people who run the site. From what I can tell, they seem to suckle at the same elitist musical teat as we all tend to do from time to time. I can respect that. It can also annoy me. But, since it’s been pointed out that I tend to form opinions about those I meet solely based on what bands they like, I guess I am guiltier than most.

Those without taste can cast the first stone.

The site is worth checking out, if only for the upcoming shows section. The site also features a lot of reviews, links to online ‘zines, band listings, etc.

I am going to try to get them to link to Houston Calling. We’ll see what happens from there.
