Don’t Trust the Needle

Will someone tell me why I love Queenryche’s Operation:Mindcrime album so much?

Maybe it’s just having headphones on at work, knowing there’s not a snowball’s chance in hell of anyone here ever hearing of more than half of the stuff I have on my iPOD. I don’t know…

While at lunch, I went to the cool little record store out here–I mentioned it the other day, Hourglass Records. Anyway, this guy I often go to lunch with went with me–he and a friend of his. He’s not into music–listens to 80’s radio and that’s about it as far as I know. They got out of there very quickly. It was like they were panic-stricken. Maybe they didn’t know what vinyl was…

Once I left, my co-worker told me that I didn’t need to be listening to “that stuff” because it’d make me crazy (the guy at the shop had on some electronic stuff playing–maybe Squarepusher).

Anyway, I started thinking how funny it was that this guy was so uncomfortable being in a record store. I consider the place a place of refuge for me during many a lunch break. I go in there, listen to their stuff, buy some CDs, chat with the owner about upcoming shows, etc. It’s great.

Well, I don’t really know my point. Just thought it was an interesting incident.
